RSVP for Public Comment on 8/14
Mayor Breed promised to ‘fundamentally change the nature of policing in San Francisco’ and her press release claims she is diverting $120 million from policing to black communities. In reality, the budget she released on Friday is smoke and mirrors— only cutting $18 million (2.6%) next year. It cuts more from the library this year than the SFPD, doesn’t shrink the size of any of our police forces, and falls way short of the mayor's announced vision to replace police with civilians for non-violent calls for service

During August the Board of Supervisors will review the budget, make cuts and add money back in, and vote to approve it by the end of September. We need to keep putting pressure on the Board to defund law enforcement throughout this process so that they have to take the communities’ demands seriously.

On 8/14 the SFPD and the Sheriff's Department will present their planned expenditures to the Budget and Appropriations committee. We need to call in to make sure they are hearing our demands.

The meeting will be long, RSVP here so we can text you when public comment begins- script and call-in info provided!
