Praesidium Libertatis? Palestinium Exceptionalis!
We, the undersigned, therefore call on the Leiden CvB to end this double standard immediately, and stand by its long tradition as a Bastion of Liberty. The Leiden CvB must:

1) Publicly reaffirm the university's commitment to academic freedom, including when it comes to Palestine.
2) Rescind the University’s decision to disallow the student event from taking place and publicly confirm that such future events on Palestine will be allowed to take place without hindrance.
3) Make public a transparent process through which such decisions are made and by whom.
4) Write to Dr Zbeidy to formally apologise for her treatment, for mishandling this event, and for slandering her reputation as a scholar.
5) Publicly apologise to the student organisers for targeting them and treating them with unfounded suspicion, instead of encouraging them when organising such inspiring critical debates.

The event will now take place on Monday, 21st March, at 15.00, Koorenhuis (The Hague). Before that, we will gather at 12.30 outside of the Leiden Wijnhaven Campus for a short rally. Join us!
