WE NEED YOU! Parent volunteers help with educational programs, school events, fundraisers and other projects that benefit Sequoia. Please take a look at the list below and consider volunteering for one or more areas of interest to you. Even if you work full time, many of the committees have evening or weekend opportunities.

Tell us how you would like to volunteer. SPA always needs volunteers with specific skills for miscellaneous tasks through the year. Are you a finance guru, a graphic designer, a builder and would you be willing to take on specific, short duration tasks in your area of expertise? Timing: Year-round

AFTER CLASS EDUCATION (ACE)
Quality, inspiring and educational classes offered after class dismissal. Volunteers are needed during the first week of each fall and spring session to facilitate the roll process for each class. Timing: Fall & Spring.
ART APPRECIATION
Lesson materials are “scripted” so parent volunteers need only have a desire to help in the classroom for a successful lesson to be presented. No specific talent or education is required to teach the lesson. Lessons represent every historical age, from prehistoric to modern, with artwork representing a myriad of diverse cultures and races.
AUCTION
Help coordinate the donation of items for the online auction as well as auction items at the Gala. Timing: Scheduled for February/March
BOX TOPS
Box Tops are ways parents can fundraise for Sequoia just by shopping. The coordinator of this position would market contests, produce flyers, count incoming box tops, and determine class winners. This is a great way to volunteer from the comfort of your own home! Timing: Year-round
COMPOST-GREEN TEAM
We need help with planning and student education, lunchtime volunteers to help with waste sorting, and volunteers to work with Green Team student leaders. Timing: Year-round
COPY CATS COPY PROGRAM
Copy Cats is a central copy room program developed for classroom teachers. Volunteers set their own hours and complete requested copy projects. If you want to volunteer, but don’t have a lot of time, this is the committee for you! Timing: Year Round, with extremely flexible hours. Timing: Year-round
FALL BOOK FAIR
All proceeds from this fundraiser go to the Sequoia library for books and media. This is traditionally a four-day event, including a preview evening for families and teachers. Help is needed for set-up, cashier and clean-up. Timing: October
FALL BOOK FAIR MOVIE NIGHT
We combine the Fall Book Fair kickoff with movie night to make the it extra special. It's books, pizza, and a great movie in the MUR, all in one night. The evening is a family favorite that promotes reading and supports our library! Help is needed for set-up, pizza booth, and AV. Timing: October
POKER NIGHT
Help plan the newest fundraiser for our school. A number of volunteers will be needed to make this event possible. Timing: November
GALA
This is one of Sequoia’s biggest and most popular fundraisers. We need help in many different areas to plan and execute this event. Timing: Year-round
HALLOWEEN BOWLING NIGHT
Community building event at the end of October. Help is needed securing prizes/donations, putting together goody bags, and other duties as may be needed by the coordinator. Timing: Year-round
PLEASANT HILL COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY
This is a campus-wide clean-up day that helps beautify our campus. Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts help too. Help organizing and publicize this event. Timing: September
OUTREACH
This is a wide-ranging effort to promote community among Sequoia families with events such as Family Game Night and Parent Speaker Nights. Timing: Year-round
STEM FAIR
Help organize this interesting night of science and engineering exhibits. Timing: November-February
SPELL–A-THON
A special fundraiser supporting our children’s learning. Timing: Spring
SPIRIT WEAR
Help sell Sequoia Spirit gear. Timing: Year-round
STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK
Plan and coordinate spring events to show our appreciation to the great staff we have at Sequoia. Currently seeking helpers to plan and execute week’s activities. Timing: May
TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE
With both teacher and parent participation, this committee will assess the current technology situation at our school and set a vision for the future, the services and equipment we think we'll use, the trends in education tech relevant to us that are worth following, and where our priorities should be going forward. Timing: Year-round
WELCOME BACK JAMBOREE
This event kicks off the school year. This year, there will be food trucks, music, and of course a cake walk. Help with set up, cake walk, clean up. Timing: September
YEARBOOK
Take pictures throughout the year of classroom activities and projects and create your own class page. Timing: Year-round
