Yale Advanced Debate Institute Application Spring 2020
The New Haven Urban Debate League is excited to open up applications for our spring semester of Yale's Advanced Debate Institute (ADI)!
ADI provides experienced high school debaters (and select, exceptionally promising novices as well!) intensive weekly debate coaching on Yale's campus. Tailored for students who are particularly academically skilled, ADI offers a rigorous curriculum taught by Yale students with years of coaching experience.
Debate is a tremendously valuable skill to acquire. Debate teaches students critical reasoning, evaluation of arguments, impromptu speaking, and fast-paced research. These prove immensely important during high school, in college, and beyond. We are honored that you desire to develop these skills with us!
Practices are held every Friday (beginning 24 January 2020) from 3:45 to 5:45 on Yale's campus. During the semester, three of these practices will be replaced by tournaments, hosted by the Urban Debate League and also on Yale's campus, where you will have the chance to put your skills to the test and compete within the League. You will be evaluated by Yale debate judges, and you will have the opportunity to win awards and qualify for travel tournaments based on your performance.
Tuition is $750 per semester, which includes coaching, tournament entry fees, and all associated charges. Please note, though, that ADI aims to be accessible to students of all financial backgrounds. If you feel that tuition may prove to be a significant burden to you and your parents/guardians, we do offer generous financial aid.
Admission to ADI is granted through competitive application. We are need-blind in our application review, so please do not let tuition fees prevent you from applying! Applications will close promptly on 17 January 2020 at 11:59 PM, so please do apply in advance of the deadline!

I look forward to reviewing your work!
