1. How would you define a gridpack? *
2. What is a DR campaign? *
3. What is a chained campaign, chained request? *
4. What is a MccM ticket? *
5. What is the difference between classical mixing and premixing? *
6. Hands-on exercises: McM-dev
In this section, you are required to work on McM-dev page (https://cms-pdmv-dev.cern.ch/mcm/) and create a request and a ticket according to the description given below. The answer to the exercises is just the link to the prepID you created (example: https://cms-pdmv-dev.cern.ch/mcm/requests?prepid=B2G-Fall13-00006&page=0&shown=127)
6.1 Exercise 1
Please prepare a request with the following characteristics:
- campaign: RunIIFall18GS
- dataset name: ZPrimeToEMu_M_1400_TuneCUETP8M1_13TeV_pythia8
- look for the correct fragment and upload it in the fragment part of the request (Hint: look in https://github.com/cms-sw/genproductions/tree/master/genfragments/ThirteenTeV/Zprime)
- change the energy to 14 TeV (in the fragment)
- Unflag the keep output, so that the GS request is not kept
- Set this request as extension number 1
6.1.1 Please post the link of the created request in McM-dev according to Exercise 1 *
6.1.2 What is the CMSSW release used by the request? *
6.1.3 How would you estimate the time/event and size/event? Please paste the commands you would execute in your terminal. *
6.2 Exercise 2
Please prepare a request with the following characteristics:
- campaign: RunIIFall18wmLHEGS
- dataset name: ABC-XToY-TuneCP5-pythia8
- Try to generate the gridpack of these cards:
https://github.com/cms-sw/genproductions/tree/master/bin/MadGraph5_aMCatNLO/cards/production/2017/13TeV/VectorLQ/PdfNlo/VectorLQ_M500
(Please look at the instructions here: https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/viewauth/CMS/QuickGuideMadGraph5aMCatNLO#Quick_tutorial_on_how_to_produce)
- Prepare the fragment by using the generic hadronizer without any jet matching: https://github.com/cms-sw/cmssw/blob/CMSSW_7_4_X/Configuration/Generator/python/Hadronizer_TuneCUETP8M1_13TeV_generic_LHE_pythia8_cff.py
(For an example of fragment, please have a look here: https://cms-pdmv-dev.cern.ch/mcm/public/restapi/requests/get_fragment/B2G-RunIISummer17wmLHEGS-00001/0)
- Change the tune from CUETP8M1 to CP5 (Hint: https://cms-pdmv.cern.ch/mcm/public/restapi/requests/get_fragment/B2G-RunIIFall18wmLHEGS-00010/0 - Search for "CP5")
- Add Parton shower weights (Hint: https://cms-pdmv.cern.ch/mcm/public/restapi/requests/get_fragment/B2G-RunIIFall18wmLHEGS-00010/0 - Search for "PSweights")
6.2.1 Please post the link of the created request in Mcm-dev according to Exercise 2 *
6.3 Exercise 3
Please prepare a ticket which includes the request you created in Exercise 2.
- Set the priority block to 2
- Include two chains in the ticket:
   - the first one is the premix one in Fall18 root campaign (Autumn18 flows) up to NanoAODv4
   - the second one is the classical mixing with flat PU between 0 and 70 in Fall18 root campaign (Autumn18 flows) up to NanoAOD
6.3.1 Please post the link of the created ticket in McM-dev according to Exercise 3 *
6.4 Exercise 4
6.4.1 Please post the log of the GEN request checking script of the request: HIG-RunIISummer20UL17wmLHEGEN-00560 (use the production McM site to get the info: cms-pdmv.cern.ch/mcm) *
7 Status of requests in computing
In this section, you will find some questions related to requests which were submitted in central production, in order to understand their progress.
7.1 How many MiniAOD events  did the request at [1] produce?                                                                       [1] https://dmytro.web.cern.ch/dmytro/cmsprodmon/workflows.php?prep_id=task_PPS-RunIIFall17GS-00008 *
7.2 And how many NanoAOD events did the same request produce? *
7.3 Can you figure out why? [Hint: Look at the error that the NanoAOD part got in production at https://cms-unified.web.cern.ch/cms-unified/showlog/?search=task_PPS-RunIIFall17GS-00008] *
