Artist Grant Info & Application
Application deadline: 5:00PM Monday, March 4, 2019.

Allied Arts Foundation will award three $5,000 grants to emerging and/or early-to-mid-career artists creating 3D/sculptural artworks and residing in Washington State.

Please fill out the form below and submit the following:
• A resume
• An artist statement
• 10 images of artwork made in the last two years (2017-2019)
• An image description sheet
• A non-refundable $20 entry fee

This year’s award will focus on 3D Visual Arts – this includes but is not limited to: sculpture, assemblages, constructions, installations, and artworks that are generally stand-alone or require a pedestal or wall/ceiling mounting.

Artists and sculptors working in stone, ceramic, glass, metal, wood, fiber, plastic, paper, mixed media, and/or other materials are encouraged to apply.

This year’s award will NOT fund
• 2D arts (painting, photography, prints, artwork that is generally flat and meant to hang on a wall, etc.)
• Performing arts (theater, dance, music, videos, film)
• Crafts or artworks of a utilitarian nature such as jewelry, pottery, furniture, clothing, etc.
• Other non-3D visual arts

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

WASHINGTON STATE RESIDENTS: Applicants must reside in Washington State.

EMERGING AND EARLY-TO-MID-CAREER ARTISTS: We have intentionally left this undefined. If you feel you are eligible, please apply. Artists who have no gallery representation or who have had few gallery shows, artists returning to their careers after an extended absence, and artists outside of the Seattle-metro area are especially encouraged to apply.

STUDENTS INELIGIBLE: Students enrolled in a degree program directly related to the discipline or whose degrees are pending at the time of application are ineligible to apply. Undergraduate students and high school students are ineligible to apply.

ARTISTS SPONSORED BY ALLIED ARTS FOUNDATION INELIGIBLE: Artists who have former or active fiscal sponsorship contracts with Allied Arts Foundation are ineligible to apply.

AAF AFFILIATES INELIGIBLE: Current or former AAF staff, board members, contractors, and/or committee members and their family members are ineligible to apply.

These awards will be judged and scored by a panel of art professionals whose decisions will be based on artist application answers, resumes, and images of past or current work. Jurors will remain anonymous.

You do NOT have to submit a project description, budget, or needs statement. We are more interested in your talent, passion, and the inspiration for your art.

Awarded funds are unrestricted and may be used at the artist’s discretion. All decisions by the committee are final.

To be considered for a grant:

1. All sections of this application must be completed.
2. The application must be submitted by 5:00PM, Monday, March 4, 2019. Late applications will not be considered.
3. The following must be submitted by email to
• An artist resume or CV (curriculum vitae)
• An artist statement
• 10 images of your work created in the last 2 years (2017-2019)
• An image description sheet

Allow plenty of time to complete the application and to provide the appropriate support documents. Allied Arts Foundation has only one part-time staff person; last-minute requests cannot be accommodated.
