Summer Reading

Directions
Students:

We work with you on making good independent reading choices all year, so the summer is the time for you to try to keep making good choices on your own.
Remember, students who don't read over the summer can lose valuable reading skills they developed over the previous school year!

The main key for success is that you consistently read a variety of materials over the summer.

This summer’s reading assignment is to:

1. Read consistently over the summer from a variety of genres.

2. Vary the difficulty of your reading over the summer. You should have times you select materials that challenge you.

3. Use your Lexile level to help guide you in selecting your materials. You can find Lexiles by accessing the high school library catalog by accessing the library home page and choosing the library catalog.

4.W hen you return in the fall, you will reflect on what you did to meet your summer reading goals.

You will generate reading goals‐‐with your teacher‐‐for the summer. Please answer the following questions:
