In accordance with Section 25.0823 of the Texas Education Code, Anderson-Shiro CISD board voted unanimously to adopt a resolution requiring a policy be adopted for a period of prayer and reading of the Bible or other religious text each school day. Participation in this period is completely voluntary and requires written consent from a student’s parent or guardian.
Acknowledgments (as required by law) By signing below, I acknowledge and agree to the following:
- Voluntary Participation: I understand that my child has a choice as to whether to participate in the period of prayer and reading of the Bible or other religious text.
- No Objection Statement: I have no objection to my child’s participation in or hearing of the prayers or readings offered during the designated period.
- Waiver of Claims: I expressly waive any right to bring a claim under state or federal law arising out of the adoption or implementation of the policy under Section 25.0823, including any claim under the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution or any related state or federal law. I hereby release Anderson-Shiro CISD and its employees from any liability for such claims brought in state or federal court.
Revocation of Consent - I understand that I may revoke this consent at any time by notifying the appropriate school administrator in writing. If consent is revoked, my child may not participate in the period of prayer or reading until a new signed consent form is submitted. The waiver of claims above will remain in effect even after revocation.
