Integrated STEM Professional Learning for K-5
RI Department of Education is seeking K-5 educators who would like to increase their understanding of STEM concepts and develop instructional methods that connect Integrated STEM instruction to their classroom practice.  This program is being developed and facilitated by mathematics, science, and technology education faculty members from Rhode Island College.

The objectives of this professional learning opportunity are to:
Develop pedagogy and routines that support student-centered STEM instruction.
Expand educator knowledge of STEM related standards for their grade span.
Build teacher confidence and conceptual understanding of fundamental STEM topics.
Design and implement an Integrated STEM project that augments the high-quality curriculum materials.

Program will include in-person professional learning on July 10-14 and July 17-21 (50 hours). In the 2023-2024 school year, teachers will plan and implement an Integrated STEM project with their students and continue to meet with their cohort monthly during the academic year.  The program will culminate with a Capstone session where participants will share the Integrated STEM project that was implemented and student outcomes.  Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate for Professional Learning Units (PLUs), and the option of a $600 stipend or 3 graduate credits from RI College.
