Our good friend and Anomalie bride, Dara Mervine, is treating patients at one of New York's largest hospital's and her report from the front lines this week shocked us: medical staff are wearing bandanas for masks and trash bags for gowns because supplies are so limited. A nurse in the city recently died after contracting the virus by not having the right safety equipment.
Across the world, I heard another shocking update from our longest-serving and trusted workshop partner: China (which produces the majority of the world's face-masks), has materials available and CDC-certified suppliers are trying to be connected with hospitals who need them. The existing supply chains are proving to be inflexible and cumbersome, so Anomalie wants to help bridge this gap with some of our direct relationships with manufacturers.
Details:
**We are focusing on procuring what we've heard are two of the most-needed masks (1) NIOSH approved n95 masks and (2) FFP2 three-layer cloth masks.
**All the suppliers we use will be vetted by our team on the ground. If you are a hospital that has a shortage of masks, please fill out this google sheet.
**This is a obviously a fast-moving situation, but we believe our supplier connections have access to a solid supply of available masks over the coming weeks, and our team will be working hard to fulfill these quickly. We are going to raise money for this effort. We will seek reimbursement from hospitals that can pay but do not want that to be a barrier in moving fast.
