Nest workshop with pantea

BEK welcomes you to join sound artist pantea for a workshop exploring listening as a way of relating to environments, communities, and more-than-human worlds.

Tuesday–Thursday August 18.–20. ( 10-15:00 timing to be confirmed)
BEK, C. Sundts gate 55, Floor 9.

Nest, a workshop led by pantea follows a nesting practice, creating time-space for ways of nesting together. Inspired by a recent collaborative conversation, "Nest, Rest, Refusal" (forthcoming, Re-Imagine Europe publication, 2026), pantea uses this time to explore what it might mean to nest collectively, attending to rest and refusal as practices rather than absences. The workshop unfolds in two phases:

The first is a short prototyping stage dedicated to building a listening nest  -a nest-streambox- seeking ways that environmental data and monitoring can move beyond passive observation to become tangible, felt, and held in common. In the second phase, the prototype then moves outdoors, leaving the nest in place, and unfolds as a silent gathering centered on walking or foraging, taking shape in conversation with local artists, musicians and practitioners.

The workshop is open to artists, musicians, researchers, and anyone interested in sound, listening, and collective forms of inquiry. No previous experience is required..

pantea is a cultural worker, creator, and writer engaging with how sounds translate ecological connections, collaborative survival, and the unheard. Their experience spans listening, walking, writing, cooking, and creating things, connections, and forms of hospitality. More recently, they have been working on ways of connecting struggles across different spheres within their praxis. They are passionate about wetlands and plants, especially the Sundew. They are involved in the Khamoosh community, dedicated to archiving Iranian sonic heritage through the sounds of everyday life, and the Active Listeners Club music label. They are currently pursuing a practice-based PhD in Music at City, St George's, University of London. Their work has been performed and exhibited internationally.
