Community Produce Stand CoordinatorThe Community Produce Stand Coordinator will work as part of The Corvallis Environmental Center’s (CEC) Community Food and Agriculture program. Under the direction of the Community Food and Agriculture Program Manager, the Produce Stand Coordinator will provide logistics, sales, outreach and education at multiple CEC Community Produce Stand each week. The Produce Stand Coordinator will be required to stock and staff the produce stands each week and produce monthly/quarterly progress reports for each stand as well as a season’s end evaluation.

About the Produce Stand ProgramThe Community Produce Stands aim to create behavior change by fostering healthy eating habits via increased accessibility to local fruits and vegetables, nutrition education, cooking demonstrations and recipes. Sited at various local organizations through each week, the produce stands increase access to fresh and nutritious produce, provides nutritional education, and stimulates the local sustainable food economy. The Community Produce Stands are also a resource for the Veggie Rx Program facilitated in partnership with the the Health Centers of Linn and Benton Counties. Patients who screen positive for food insecurity through a Social Determinants of Health screening tool, are referred to the local food network, connected with SNAP/WIC/School Lunch programs where eligible, and receive Health Navigation support through the Community Health Centers. Participants receive tokens for fresh fruits and vegetable that can be redeemed at the the on-site Community Produce Stand as well as at the local Farmer’s Market. Information gained will be shared with other IHN agencies to inform the screening, referral, and follow up around integration of food resources system within the health care paradigm.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Coordinate and staff multiple Produce Stands per week in various Corvallis locationsProduce stand operations include:Transporting all needed materials to site, conducting inventory of the produce, supplies, take down produce stand, clean stand area Setting up stand in a visually appealing way, maintaining freshness of produce throughout market Maintain a positive and inviting attitude while selling produce or providing information to patronsWork with an intern to provide food sampling and recipes to patronsComplete daily transaction reports (cash, credit card); Reconcile Produce Stand cash boxProvide educational and outreach opportunities for patrons: Develop educational and outreach materials: nutritional value, eating seasonally, sustainable farming practices, local spendingDevelop seasonal recipes and sampling ideasManage inventory of Produce Stand produce:Place weekly / bi-weekly orders from local farms to ensure adequate produce volumeEnsure delivery and/or provide transportation from farm to CEC storageProperly store and label produce in storage; maintain food safety standardsTrack and code receipts and invoices,Track sales weekly / seasonally per variety and per siteCollaborate with Produce Stand Host Organizations in marketing and outreach effortsAct as a representative for the Corvallis Environmental Center, positively promote the Produce Stand as well as other CEC programs
QUALIFICATIONSExperience working at, and/or managing a produce stand / farmer’s market boothExperience working in customer service or salesExperience working with a diverse community of individualsEnthusiasm for good food and healthy producePassion for public health, food security, and/or nutritionAbility to work independently, well organized and detail-oriented. Excellent written and oral communication skills.Must have or be able to acquire Food Handler’s Card by date of hireBilingual (preferred, not required)Must have a personal vehicle for transport of produce and produce stand materials
