2020 Nova Learning Achievement Award Application
Nova Learning Inc. is proud to sponsor this provincial award for an adult learner who has shown exceptional progress and achievement in learning and literacy. The award recognizes an adult learner who plans to move on or has moved on to post-secondary education.
The winner will be chosen by a committee from Literacy Nova Scotia. The $1000 award and certificate will be presented at the 2020 NSPGI Dinner and Auction for Literacy to be held on Tuesday March 31, 2020 at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront. The winner will be asked to “say a few words” in acknowledgement of their award.
The criteria for The Nova Learning Achievement Award are: The learner
- has attended an adult basic education program in 2019 and has completed the requirements for the Adult High School Diploma or has passed the GED.
- has had excellent attendance, demonstrating a commitment to learning.
- plans to attend or is presently attending a post-secondary program in Nova Scotia.
- has shown substantial and/or exceptional progress.
- has included a recommendation from a teacher or tutor.
- has written and included their learning story with this application.
Their learning story should include the following information: (a) Why they returned to school
(b) The challenges they face
(c) Their learning goals and career goals
(d) How their life has changed since returning to school
(e) What they consider to be their greatest learning achievement
As part of the celebration of learning, LNS will publish award winners’ names, photographs and quotes from essay submissions.
