Thank you for your interest in helping plan the OWHE annual conference! Below is a list of possible areas in which your help would be greatly appreciated. Please read each of the responsibilities carefully and let us know which area(s) you are the most interested in by 9/1. Volunteer Roles
Excellence Awards Team – This group’s charge is to promote the awards nomination process, review award nominations (due October 1), and coordinate the Recognition & Celebration event activities at the conference. This group will provide specific outreach to members and institutions to solicit award nominations, review and select a winner for each category, and coordinate the presentation of the awards at the annual conference. This group will work closely with the Chair of the Board of Directors to celebrate outstanding women in their field.

Identity Caucus Leadership Team - This group's charge is to coordinate and host the identity caucus breakfasts. This includes creating the structure, hosting the identity specific caucuses and facilitating conversation. A caucus is a space for facilitated discussion around a shared experience. It is a closed safe space for people facing different forms of oppression and to meet and discuss how it affects them. We are looking for folks who have passion and energy around creating spaces for solidarity to make this a success.

Mentorship Team– This group’s charge is to promote the mentorship program and coordinate the mentorship program gathering at the conference. This includes specific outreach to members and institutions to elicit participants for the mentorship program, improving and expanding the mentorship program's structure, and then coordinating the mentorship gathering at the conference. This group will work with the Director of Engagement to make this program a success.

Networking & Engagement Team – This group’s charge is to plan and facilitate the networking & engagement activities throughout the conference. This includes the Friday afternoon networking activity, the Saturday unconference activities, and other intentional opportunities for attendees to connect throughout the conference. This group will work closely with the Chair of the Board of Directors and the Director of Marketing, Records and Outreach to make this happen.

On-site Volunteer Team – This group will volunteer at the conference on-site to help with registration and check-in, hospitality, and/or serving as a session facilitator (introducing presenters, ensuring AV/Tech is adequate, watching the time, etc.). On-site volunteers ensure a smooth conference experience. This group will work closely with the Chair of the Board of Directors.

Conference Photographers - These volunteers will assist the Director of Marketing, Records, and Outreach by taking photos and/or videos during the conference to be posted on our social media and future conference promotional materials. We are also looking for photographers interested in taking headshots for conference attendees.

Promotions Team - This group's charge is to promote the annual conference in creative and innovative ways. This includes designing a local "to do" brochure, save the dates, programs, name badges, swag, and more for the conference. Additionally, this group will be in charge of social media engagement and photography throughout the conference. This group will work closely with the Director of Communications and Outreach to accomplish these things.

Sponsorship Team – This group’s charge is to identify and confirm sponsorships to satisfy our sponsorship goal for this year’s annual conference. This group will work closely with our Director of Business Operations to identify potential sponsors. The Director of Business Operations will follow up on these leads.
