New Story Festival Volunteer Application
Please let us know which areas you would be able to help with, either before or during the festival (or both). Please check all that apply, not just your top preferences, as we will fill in teams according to our needs. You must put in at least 12 volunteer hours to receive a free 3-day festival pass. ALL volunteers also receive a unique affiliate promoter code that will pay you $40 for every standard-priced weekend ticket purchased using your code.

Church Outreach Efforts (Researching/creating lists of Texas churches and reaching out to them via email and phone.)
Digital Marketing & Social Media
Local Promotion (Hand out flyers and tabling at other events, campuses, churches, etc.) - must be in Austin or nearby cities
Logistics & Admin (Help us keep track of and coordinate all the moving parts behind the scenes. Must be proficient w/Google Suite tools.)
Visual Design (help with the visual design of the festival space, esp. the physical creation of backdrops, signage, etc.)

Accessibility Team (Help members of our community to feel welcome and safe. Make sure festival goes out of way to welcome attendees with differences of mobility, sight, hearing, and special health requests.)
AV Tech (assist with technology, sound, microphones - must have experience)
Beer Tent (set-up, clean, serve, sales, id-checks - must do 2-hour online TABC certification to serve)
Bookstore (stock, customer service, sales)
Contributor Hospitality (help take care of our contributors/presenters, manage Green Room, provide water, snacks, last-minute needs, rides to/from airport, etc.)
First Aid (help staff the first-aid stations - must have training/certification)
Flex Team (be available to fill-in wherever needed)
Green Team (assist with recycling, composting, trash collection)
Kids Program (must submit to background check)
Media Team (assist with videography, photography, sound recording, etc.)
Parking (assist with welcome, traffic, parking, and safety)
Personal Assistant (be available to Mike, Gareth, and/or other lead organizers to help with whatever is needed)
Pre-Festival Set-Up (may include setting up lights, hanging art, moving chairs, tables, etc.)
Post-Festival Clean-up (get all your hours in here and you won't have to miss any of the festival!)
Quartermaster (keep track of supplies and make sure they get to where they are needed)
Registration/Check-In (welcome and check-in festival goers, volunteers, vendors, contributors, etc.)
Safety & Hospitality Rangers (roving team to care for anyone in need)
Spanish Interpretation (be available to translate from English to Spanish for presenters)
Stage/Venue Production (assist with setting up and flipping program venues between sessions)
Youth Tent (Help maintain a safe, welcoming space for teen festival-goers. Requires background check.)
Volunteer Coordination (oversee one of the above volunteer areas - get to carry a radio!)

We can't guarantee any specific placements, but will take your preferences into consideration. Also, if you are signing up for a specific team that an organization you are with is helping to run, or based on a prior agreement with a festival organizer, please indicate that here, including which organization you are with or which organizer you talked to.
