Proposal requests are reviewed every week, and you will receive an email from the Photography Lab once your project has been reviewed. If you intent on working within multiple Institutional Labs a form must be completed for each lab.

MIAD Institutional Labs unfortunately cannot check-out equipment to alumni at this time. Alumni using the labs must provide the *all equipment necessary to successfully complete their projects.

*Institutional Labs may provide some tools and equipment that are integral to effective lab usage. Alumni are responsible for the care of these tools and equipment and agree to replace anything that has been damaged or misused.

Photography Lab Available Hours for Alumni

For use of the Photography Labs, the Photography + Digital Media Lab Technician must be on campus and aware of alumni use. Alternative hours will be considered on a case by case basis. 

Hours of access for the Fall '25:
Monday          9am-4pm
Tuesday         9am-4pm
Wednesday   9am-4pm
Thursday       9am-4pm
Friday            10am-2pm
Saturday       No Availability
Sunday          No Availability

Photography Lab Fees and Resale
In addition to the alumni lab access standard fee of $25 annually, which is a donation that directly supports Alumni Senior Thesis Awards, each of MIAD Institutional Labs may have additional fees for facilities and equipment usage and for material resale.

Photography Lab Usage Fee:
  • Darkroom -- $15 per day
  • Digital Printing Labs -- $15 per day

Photography Lab Resale:

Darkroom Towels are $4.00 
*darkroom towels are needed for the Darkroom, but you may elect to bring your own
