The educational mission of the Textile Arts Center is to promote and expand the understanding and appreciation of textile and fiber arts, and the traditional skills associated with the treatment and production of cloth. We strive to provide empowerment through knowledge, and create a collaborative and inspiring experience.
Field-Trips are a great way to introduce potential artists to the world of textiles. We offer Field Trips at our Brooklyn location, starting as young as 5 years old, for both public and private schools, as well as for colleges, universities, and adults.
High School, College + Adult Groups’ Field Trips are designed to provide visitors with an overview of the Textile Arts Center’s offerings for artists and a better understanding of textile processes, techniques and equipment.
Studio Tour includes demonstrations of weaving on a floor loom, machine knitting, screen printing and dyeing, as well as a visit to the Artists in Residence studios.
