2020 SummerFun! Counselor Application
SummerFun! seeks Arlington High School students who demonstrate trainable leadership qualities and value attitude, dependability, cooperation, kindness and working with children. Teens will be assigned to classes, where they will assist the lead teacher. They will also help with recess and lunch hour.
SummerFun will be accepting applications for 3 tiers of teens:
1. COUNSELORS IN TRAINING: Rising 9th graders, volunteer position, community-service hours
2. COUNSELORS: Rising 10th and above with no prior SummerFun experience: Stipend $175/week or community-service hours
3. LEAD COUNSELORS: Rising 10th and above with 1+ season SummerFun experience: $12.75/hour
SummerFun runs for 6 weeks, June 29 - August 7 from 9:00 am-4:00 pm, Monday-Friday at Ottoson. You can apply to work 1-6 weeks. Counselors must work the full-day of each week they are assigned, there are no half-day positions.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 1
We will notify you during the week of April 6 if we'd like to invite you for an interview. Accepted applicants must attend a mandatory training session in June.

We will do our best to meet your request, however no one is guaranteed more than 1 week. First-time counselors are typically given 1 or 2 weeks at the most.
Please RANK IN ORDER OF PREFERENCE the weeks you'd like to work. Do not put first choice for all of them. Note: The last two weeks are less competitive.

In addition to classes at Otttoson, we have all-day field trips planned and need 1 teen for each. Most days run 9-4.

July 20-24 Adventure DayTrippers with Chris Mahoney (high energy outdoor activities including hiking, kayaking, ropes course, Canobie Lake Park)
July 27-31 Adventure DayTrippers with Chris Mahoney (high energy outdoor activities including hiking, kayaking, ropes course, Canobie Lake Park)
August 3-7 Best of Boston DayTrippers with Brittany King (tours of Boston sites, including Harbor Islands, Fenway Park, etc.)
Morning & Afternoon Extended-Day
We need a few teens each day to help with the extended-day program. Open to Lead Counselors only.
I am interested in working the morning program, 8:00-9:00 AM, Monday-Friday
I am interested in working the afternoon program, 4:00-5:30 PM, Monday-Thursday
I might be interested but would like to learn more.
Social Media Outreach
We need one or two teens each week to help with Social Media outreach to families, including Facebook, Twitter, and Website. Please let us know if you're interested and why you'd be good at this.
