2018 Partnership Form: Risen Church
Thanks for considering partnership with Risen Church! We view this process as a way of clarifying what it means to be a partner and giving our partners a way to evaluate their partnership on an annual basis. Please fill out one form for each household and do not hesitate to reach out to Pastor John with any questions or information:

The resurrection of Jesus changes everything and we want Risen to be a church family that helps others find life in the Risen Lord. That only happens through your partnership in spreading this good news!

Affirmation of Belief in Jesus
Whether you are new to our church or have been a part of our family for a long time, we’d love to hear your story!
I affirm the following points:
Tell us your story about how you became a follower of Jesus:
Your answer
Was there a point in time where you received Jesus as your Savior or was it a process over time?
Your answer
Tell us when you were baptized and what baptism means to you. (If you would like to be baptized simply mention that and Pastor John will follow up)
Your answer
Have you been a member of another church within the last 12 months? There is no need to respond if that answer is “no”.
If the answer to the above is “yes” and you are transferring your membership from another church, please list an explanation for leaving and reference to one of the pastors or leaders who may know you well. There are cases where this isn’t applicable or available. We understand and simply want to make sure that a move from one church to another church is healthy for all parties involved.

What is Partnership?
Partnership at Risen Church is a commitment to live out our identity and calling as the lead missionaries and lead servants of our church. It is both an invitation and a dedication to fully pursue the joy of Jesus and the abundant life He promises to us together, for our city and for the nations.
Partnership Commitments
Partners are the saints of God who do the work of ministry, and partnership is a commitment to missional living with the local body of believers. We call these men and women “partners” rather than “members,” because we think that word more clearly describes the heart of the New Testament (Ephesians 4:11-14) (Philippians 1:3-6). We call our partners to a higher level of accountability, service and sacrifice than attenders. We ask a lot of our partners, because we believe that God is using them, and our church, to do amazing things for His Kingdom in our city. Because we are unconditionally accepted by Christ, we are committed to living intentionally in these areas. None of us will ever perfectly live these commitments out, and our identity is not in our ability to do so. Our partnership is an intentional commitment to grow in these areas, not so we can be accepted, but because we already are in Christ!
Living
We are joined together by God our Father and live as a family of brothers and sisters in Christ. In the church, we're learning a new way of living and relating to God and others. (Ephesians 2:11-22).

Community
We cannot do what God has called us to do alone. Jesus calls His people to live in community, living life together as we seek to share the gospel with our friends, neighbors, coworkers and city. We want to be a movement: we want to be rapidly growing, dynamic, multiplying disciples – just like the early church. To do this, every believer gets to be involved in the mission.
Community Group involvement is the best way to get connected into the life of the church. *

Giving
Risen Church believes that the giving of tithes (10% of income) and offerings is a biblical principle in the scriptures established to protect the hearts of God’s people who are prone to loving money more than God. We believe that tithing to the local church is the starting point of giving that liberates the heart from materialism and hoarding, into cheerful generosity, mercy and justice.
I commit to giving $_____ in 2018 (in MONTHLY terms). We ask for this information largely for annual planning and stewardship purposes, but we would also love for you to have a tangible way of measuring your own growth in generosity. We recognize that the local church is not the only place where many of us make financial contributions. We support and encourage generosity as a principle and simply ask that you consider giving to your Risen Church family as a primary consideration.
Your answer
I'm having a hard time making a financial commitment. This will not keep you from Partnership at Risen Church and serves ONLY as a way to care for you and support you in prayer and/or resources.
Serving
God has called his church to be the primary method for restoration in Virginia Beach. The church is us: people who love Jesus and serve others through everything from parking cars, holding babies, and praying with others, to pouring coffee, and opening their homes in hospitality. In this, God changes us. Serving in the local church is a vehicle to discover how we are made and how the Lord can use us.

Growing
We are disciples of Jesus, learning to pattern our lives after His. We learn from his assurance of the Father's Love, His Obedience to God's Will, and his Dependence upon the Holy Spirit. He has commanded us to "Go" and teach others the same things we have been taught. This means that we are seeking to do more than simply make converts to Christianity; we are seeking to make disciples who can grow to make disciples. (Matthew 28:18-20)
