MSCCA: Superheroes, Empowering Maryland's Everyday Heroes

Maryland State Child Care Association is a not for profit 501(C3) organization. Our membership benefits offer opportunities for professional development to include quality training in the field of child care and early childhood education highlighting session choices in all Core of Knowledge domains. We are the premiere, professional organization advocating for members and promoting the advancement of licensed child care and learning programs throughout Maryland.
MSCCA will host our annual statewide quality, MSDE approved, training conference offered for registered attendees both virtually OR in person from the Roland E. Powell Convention Center, upper level in Ocean City, MD. Trainers/presenters are expected to present training in person at the Convention Center in Ocean City, MD. Please plan to present on-site.

Proposal Deadline – on or BEFORE December 3, 2025.
The MSCCA invites presenters to join us for our annual statewide Conference in 2026. A fully in person opportunity will be provided for attendees and a limited virtual platform will also be provided for attendees (not trainers). All hybrid classrooms will have production team with cameras, audio, and facilitators allowing presenters to move about the classroom freely. Please indicate in the RFP if you are comfortable with your session being offered as a hybrid. Please ensure that your session, if hybrid, will be engaging for all audiences.
MSCCA DOES NOT RECOMMEND "Make and Take" sessions due to hybrid options and due to large onsite audiences.
The MSCCA Professional Development Committee is seeking quality, professional, and enthusiastic presenters. The full Conference by the Sea 2026 application will be submitted for approval by MSCCA to the MSDE Office of Child Care. You are NOT required to have a Maryland state training approval number to submit to present a conference session.
We need presentations for any or all of the following dates: Thursday, April 30th, Friday, May 1st, Saturday, May 2nd and Sunday, May 3rd.

We invite you to complete in full this RFP google form for each session including (multiple form submissions accepted):
  • Presenter brief biography.
  • Brief course description for participants seeking Core of Knowledge and continuing education credits on topics related to Child Development, Curriculum, Health/Safety & Nutrition, Special Needs, Community, and Professionalism.
  • Training outcomes/objectives.
  • Assessment questions related to your presentation content. (minimum of 3 with maximum of 5)
MSCCA wants all presenters to feel comfortable and supported in our efforts to provide a quality statewide conference. We offer a hybrid conference for participants. Presenters MUST be in person for live streaming.

Our conference theme for 2026 is MSCCA: Superheroes, Empowering Maryland's Everyday HeroesWe know the world of child care and early childhood education is always evolving — from business needs to educational requirements. But our industry and workforce are true heroes. We rise to every challenge, using our superpowers of resilience, compassion, and dedication. Through every change and every storm, we continue to empower Maryland’s everyday heroes — our teachers, directors, and families — by keeping our focus where it belongs: on the children. Conference presentations should focus on developmentally appropriate practices, leadership, classroom, and business supports for our workforce. Additionally, sessions emphasizing the power of inquiry- based curriculum /play based learning are encouraged. We welcome sessions taught bilingual, or fully in Spanish.

MSCCA is excited that the child care credentialing program is returning this year! We have grown and are expanding to a new, larger venue; therefore, we must be cognizant of our budget related to presenters fees and hotel accommodations. Priority will be given to low cost or no cost RFP submissions for 2026.

MSCCA’s goal is to select presenters and workshops that include educational, interactive sessions that are engaging and motivational. Our focus is on quality, adult early learning experiences, while encouraging participants to apply new and innovative ways to improve their classrooms, programs and business practices. Sessions will be chosen to support infant/toddler teachers, PreK teachers, school age teachers, family child care providers, bilingual learners/teachers, administrators, directors and professionals in the field of child care/ECE.

Session topics related to Education, Child Development, Curriculum, Special Education/Needs, Social and Emotional Competencies, Executive Functioning, Social Justice, Equity, Cultural Competencies, Trauma Informed Care, Diversity, Anti-Bias, Advocacy, Developmentally Appropriate Practices, Accreditation, Health and Safety, Regulations, Enrollment, Marketing, Staffing, Website Design and Social Media Marketing, School Age Best Practices, Infant and Toddler Enrichment and Activities, Coaching and Mentoring, Family Engagement, ELL, STEAM, Conscious Discipline, New Early Learning Standards, CLASS, Team Building, Risk Management and more are welcome and appropriate!  Participants choose from multiple tracks to enrich their professional development portfolio.

Please be sure your presentation is versatile for Teachers/Educators, Aides, of any and all age groups, as well as Administrators Owners and Directors. Please indicate if you are targeting a specific audience (i.e. Infant Toddler teachers, Administrators, Directors, Preschoolers, or School Agers).

IMPORTANT: MSCCA Professional Development Committee will make final decisions in December 2025 and prepare registration to open on January 2026. We will contact the speakers/presenters chosen for the conference in January 2026. Your submission of the RFP indicates you plan to present. Please keep the conference dates open! If your presentation is not chosen, you will receive communication from MSCCA in early January 2026.

Classrooms will be assigned to presenters after registration closes in April 2026. The final number of attendees dictates the classroom style seating, you will not be given a choice for classroom style (rounds, classroom or theater)  MSCCA will provide all details, including number of attendees, classroom style seating, a map of the conference center, your classroom assigned and more details, after registration closes in April 2026.

Please note the level of your presentation as Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced or appropriate for all levels. MSCCA’s annual conference is a true “conference” experience. The classes are sometimes LARGER than a traditional training or workshop. Session participants will be attending both in-person and virtually. Sessions may hold up to 200 plus participants in person, but may be larger or smaller, with the possibility of additional virtual participants at the same time. Conference by the Sea presenting is unique. If you are looking for SMALL class sizes, this is not the conference for you. We try to give participants their first choice for sessions, whenever possible.

Brief descriptions, outcomes and assessments are required for each class. Presenters are asked to provide a content specific assessment with a no more than five (5), three (3) questions are preferable.  MSCCA will provide AV support with multiple facilitators to assist in each class, both in-person and virtually.

Presenters and Panel Participants are required to register for the conference free of charge and will receive registration materials and badges. Your fees and accommodation needs are required in this RFP.  Access to all conference related events and meals are limited to those wearing the MSCCA Conference Identification Badge, including speakers/presenters.

Presenters interested in attending sessions will be able to register as a conference participant separately and will be expected to pay for registration, if attending conference sessions.
