SAWG Past President

The Past President serves for the year following his/her presidency in the capacity of an advisor to the current president and the Board as needed. The Past President brings continuity to the Board meetings through sharing of immediate history when required and/or offering explanations of Board actions and business discussed during his/her tenure. The Past President is a voting member but not elected member of the Board. The position is responsible to the Board of Directors and requires 3-4 hours/month.

The position requires the following responsibilities:

  • Advisor to the current Board of Directors and its President. 
  • Resource person for the Bylaws of the organization and clarifying areas of questions regarding the Bylaws.
  • Verbal Historian to the extent she/he may be aware.
  • Mediator for issues that may arise if needed.
  • Facilitator at meetings and board meetings at the direction of the Board or President.
  • Convener and advisor to the current year's Nominating Committee.
  • Lends clarity to various perspectives.
  • Assists the President with the long-range planning for the Annual Planning Meeting as needed.
  • Is a member of the Council of Past Presidents.
