MISSION STATEMENT:
Byrdie's Pottery Studio is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving New Orleans with affordable access to ceramic arts, providing education opportunities, and creating a platform for artists to share their work with the community.

WHO IS THIS OPPORTUNITY FOR?
BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color), this includes people of African, Native American, Latin, Pacific Island, Middle Eastern, and Asian descent

WHY ARE WE OFFERING THIS?
Byrdie’s Pottery is a community of people whose mission is to welcome anybody who is interested in the ceramic arts, from those with a budding interest to folks highly experienced with clay. In 2020, we formed an Equity, Race, and Intersectionality Committee consisting of members and board members, with the goal of making Byrdie's a more equitable and inclusive space. We recognize that pottery studios are predominantly run and accessed by white people, and we are committed to dismantling that reality by creating and holding space for BIPOC. We hold two spaces open in every class specifically for BIPOC, so that access can be reserved for folks who previously may not have seen themselves doing ceramics or taking a class in our space.  We are also holding this space in hopes that BIPOC will feel more comfortable and at ease entering the studio and pursuing the clay arts beyond our classes.
