About the PSAT/NMSQT: The PSAT is a standardized test of approximately 3 hours, assessing a student's reading, writing, and math skills in preparation for the major college entrance exams such as the SAT and ACT. The NMSQT stands for National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, meaning that students taking the PSAT in 11th grade will have their score entered in a national scholarship competition. 9th and 10th grade students will benefit from additional attempts with the timed test, giving them critical feedback on their academic progress and helpful suggestions on how to best achieve college readiness and prepare for those important college entrance exams.
