Hiking the MST
The MST is continuing to recognize completions as the Covid pandemic eases.

As vaccination rates increase and North Carolina reopens, we have loosened guidance and are no longer urging Trail Angels to suspend offers of shuttles or homestays, or hikers to postpone long-distance hikes. Most of our Trail Angels have now resumed offering their services.

Be aware that many Trail Angels are limiting services to hikers who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19. We therefore urge all hikers to become vaccinated before beginning their hikes.

Before you start your journey, please let us know that you’re planning to hike the entire trail. We like to know who’s working on it, and we’re also happy to hook you up with others who have done it before. Contact Betsy (bbrown@mountainstoseatrail.org) for those connections or if you have any other questions.

IF YOU HAVE COMPLETED YOUR HIKE, PLEASE USE THE FORM ON THE WEBSITE TO REPORT IT. (https://mountainstoseatrail.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Application-for-Completion-Award.pdf)

We think the MST is the best trail in the world and we'd love to know why you've decided to hike it. What do you hope to experience as you hike across North Carolina?
Do you have any concerns you'd like to talk to someone about?
We have active social media pages on Facebook and Instagram. If you plan to post about your time on the trail, would you give us permission to share your posts? If so, please share your handle (aka username). We delay sharing your posts by a few days so that your location is not current, protecting your safety and privacy.
Your safety on the trail is very important. We encourage you to share the name, phone and email of emergency contact here. (If it makes you feel better, we've never had to use this before!) Also, please make sure to share your plans with friends and family and let them know how to reach the Friends of the MST and the land managers along the trail. This information is available in the trail guides.
Would you like to be added to the mailing list to get newsletters and information about membership in Friends of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail (the non-profit that supports hikers and builds, maintains, protects and promotes the MST)? *
