Apply to teach with Writers in Baltimore Schools
Writers in Baltimore Schools seeks Baltimore and DC-based writers to teach creative writing to students in grades 6 - 8. This is a volunteer position with a teaching commitment of 1 - 2 hours a week. We are currently looking to fill teaching positions in our partner schools in Baltimore public schools.

WBS empowers the voices of Baltimore City students through in-school, after-school, and summer programming that builds skills in literacy and communication while creating a community of support for young writers.

WBS Instructors will teach a 24-week writing course of 8 - 12 students. These groups meet once or twice weekly for an hour, either in-school or after-school. Instructors follow WBS's Common Core-aligned creative writing curriculum and will be responsible for helping students revise and prepare pieces for WBS's literary magazine and open mic events. Prior to teaching, instructors are required to attend a half day orientation. Instructors may be be paired with a WBS Teaching Fellow, current high school senior who have been involved with WBS for several years.

Applications are considered on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to return your application as soon as possible. Within two weeks of receiving your application we will contact successful applicants to schedule an interview.
