Participant and Parent/Guardian Agreement
By submitting this form, I agree the registered individual HAS MY PERMISSION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE NORTH SHORE WRESTLING CLUB. I HEREBY RELEASE THE NORTH SHORE WRESTLING CLUB, PROCTOR AND DULUTH PUBLIC SCHOOLS, AND ANY COACHES FROM ANY LIABILITY DUE TO INJURY OR ILLNESS SUSTAINED AS PART OF THIS PROGRAM.

PARENT/GUARDIAN CODE OF CONDUCT
The North Shore Wrestling Club has implemented a Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct to ensure its participants’ success, safety, and wellbeing. Please read, understand, and agree to this form prior to your child’s participation. Any parent/guardian guilty of misconduct, at a practice or competition, will be asked to leave the facility and be suspended from the following event. Repeat violations may cause a multiple practice or event suspension, or a season forfeiture of the privilege of attending all activities.

The essential elements of character-building and ethics in sports are embodied in the concept of sportsmanship and six core principles: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Good Citizenship. The highest potential of sports is achieved when competition reflects these “six pillars of character.”
1. I will not force my child to participate in sports.
2. I will remember that children participate to have fun and that the sport is for youth, not adults.
3. I will inform the coach of any physical disability or ailment that may affect the safety of my child or the safety of others.
4. I (and my guests) will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all participants, coaches, officials and spectators at every practice, competition or other sporting event.
5. I (and my guests) will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, wrestler, or parent such as booing and taunting; refusing to shake hands; or using profane language.
6. I will not encourage any behaviors or practices that would endanger the health and wellbeing of the athletes.
7. I will teach my child to engage respectfully to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
8. I will demand that my child treat other wrestlers, coaches, officials and spectators with respect regardless of race, creed, color, sex or ability.
9. I will teach my child that doing one’s best is more important than winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of his/her performance.
10. I will praise my child for competing fairly and trying hard, and make my child feel like a winner every time.
11. I will never ridicule or yell at my child or other participants for making a mistake or losing a competition.
12. I will emphasize skill development and practices and how they benefit my child over winning.
13. I will promote the emotional and physical wellbeing of the athletes ahead of any personal desire I may have for my child to win.
14. I will respect the officials and their authority during competitions and will never question, discuss, or confront coaches at the events, and will take time to speak with coaches at an agreed upon time and place.
15. I will demand a sports environment for my child that is free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol and I will refrain from their use at all sports events.
16. I will refrain from coaching my child or other wrestlers during practices, unless I am one of the official coaches of the team.

Welcome! Please read the following in its entirety...
Thank you for registering your child(ren) in our program! We are looking forward to a fun-filled season where our kids will learn and improve their skills as well as embrace the values of integrity (doing the right thing) and intensity (working & playing hard). My goal is to create a positive, supportive, and inclusive environment so that every wrestler, regardless of ability, has a great experience.

Cancellations or Postponements:
-  We will follow the ISD-704, Proctor, School District’s cancellation schedule. In the event of inclement weather or an emergency, you will receive an email from the Coaches

Punctuality and Attendance:
   - Being on time is critical. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before practice so we have ample time to get changed into wrestling shoes.
If your child is sick, we’d rather have them miss a practice or event rather than risk getting other children sick. Please be considerate.

Apparel & Hygiene:
   - T-Shirt or Long-Sleeved Shirt:
   - Anything baggy should be tucked-in
   - No buttons or zippers
   - Shorts or Sweatpants:
   - No buttons or zippers
   - Clean Gym Shoes or Wrestling Shoes:
   - No street shoes on the mats
   - Fingernails Clipped
   - Bathe after each practice and event

What we’ll work on at practices and events:
   - Rules: We’d like them to know more about the rules of the sport so that they can wrestle more effectively at the next level.

   - Skills: We want all to improve on Takedowns, Breakdowns, Escapes, Reversals, and Pinning by the end of the season. This will be done through drilling, live wrestling, and games.

   - Safety: Wrestling can be dangerous if safety rules are not followed. We will be diligent in making sure no one puts themselves or others at risk.

Disciplinary Actions:
  -  Coaches will be firm, fair, and consistent in all practices and events. We will be implementing a “3-Strike, 3-Out Rule” for actions that are deemed as distracting, disrespectful, dangerous, destructive, and/or malicious.

3-Strike Rule (Each practice/event is a clean slate):
   - Warning
   - 10-Minute Timeout
   - Sit-Out for the rest of a Practice or Event

3-Out Rule:
   - During a season; if a child has been asked to “Sit-Out” for 3 Practices or Events, they will be removed from the program until the next season.

   - Bullying and/or purposely perpetrating physical harm to others, inside or outside the program, will be subject to suspension until next season.

Participant’s Parents/Guardians:
   - During practices and events, we’d ask that you allow our coaches to guide your child in their growth and development in wrestling.

Expectations during the Season:
   - The emphasis is not on winning, but on development and having fun. My primary goal this season is to make sure every child wants to come back next year. Your child may be the most skilled wrestler on the team, or may be the least skilled. Either way, I will treat all wrestlers fairly and reward positive attitude, hustle, and improvement over natural ability.

If you have any questions, please let me know. Otherwise, I look forward to seeing you all at our first practice!
