Duties and Requirements: Mentors are required to be in attendance every Tuesday AND every Thursday from 11:50-12:40pm. Trainings and professional development will occur on Tuesdays, and peer learning activities occur every Thursday. You are accountable for attending class and cannot participate in peer learning activities unless trained.

Below are a list of expectations we have for our mentors:

1)Thursday Peer Learning Activities with Mentees: Mentors are expected to be an inviting figure to their mentees and reliable when meeting with their student group every other Thursday. It is crucial that mentees are able to meet with their mentors and feel comfortable reaching out to them, especially in times of high stress. This can be achieved by attending each peer learning activities and proactively checking in with your mentee.

2) Tuesday Training/Development Attendance:

a. Peer Learning Activity (PLA) Training: The Tuesday before PLA, mentors will receive training on how to lead each activity. It is crucial that mentors attend and participate!

b. Professional Development (PD): The well-being and future of mentors is also an important aspect of this experience, which is why every other Tuesday, different professional development activities will be scheduled to benefit the future of mentors.

3) Reflections: An important component of being a mentor is being able to reflect on your experiences, including past experiences as a student and current experiences as a mentor. These assignments will be turned in on Canvas.

4) Communication with Advising Office: It is important that the mentors feel comfortable reaching out to their major advisor. This could include needing recommendations or information about campus resources, advice or help regarding a mentee, and especially concerning the well-being of the mentor and mentees.
