Does the athlete meet the following prerequisites:

· All athletes must be able to ride a bicycle independently and safely within a closed course environment in close proximity to other riders and demonstrate the ability to safely transition to riding in a limited traffic open course.

Paratriathlon Team
· T.B.D.

Development Team
· Competition Team swim requirements are preferred, but not required.
· There are no minimum run requirements.

Competition Team
·       7–8-year-olds must be able to swim 50 yards unassisted and complete a .5-mile continuous run.
·       9–10-year-olds must be able to swim 100 yards unassisted and complete a .5-mile continuous run.
·       11–12-year-olds must be able to swim 100 yards unassisted and complete a 1-mile continuous run.
·       13–14-year-olds must be able to swim 150 yards unassisted and complete a 1-mile continuous run.

Travel Team
· 7–10-year-olds must be able to swim 100 meters unassisted in open water and complete a .5-mile continuous run.
· 10–17-year-olds must be able to swim 200 meters unassisted in open water and complete a 1.55-mile continuous run.

High School Team
· Must be able to swim 750 meters unassisted in open water and complete a 3.10-mile continuous run.

NOTE: We do allow exceptions to the Travel and High School team open water swim requirements for athletes registering for the duathlon only or modified pool swim
schedules. However, High School and Travel team members on the duathlon only or modified pool swim schedule will not compete in the Maryland State High School Triathlon Championship or the August Youth and Junior Triathlon National Championship. These athletes will be offered a duathlon or pool swim event in lieu of
the USAT Youth and Junior National Championship.
