From April 10-14, the City of Livermore and Street Plans installed temporary pedestrian safety improvements at six intersections along East Avenue as a part of Tactical East Avenue, Phase II of an ongoing design and engineering study to explore how East Avenue can be made safer for all modes. These improvements are being evaluated for a minimum of six months to inform future, permanent changes to the street.
As of mid-June, the project team has completed a set of design modifications in the curb extensions to address community feedback, better accommodate large vehicles, and ease bicyclist passage through the curb extensions while still maintaining minimized pedestrian crossing distances across East Avenue. The painted medians and high-visibility crosswalks remain unchanged.
Let the project team know what you think about the adjustments below!
