The United Faculty of Illinois State University chapter of the University Professionals of Illinois Local 4100 have been negotiating for over nine months and have begun the academic year without a contract. Progress has been at a snail's pace despite ISU administrators having the Union's full proposal since February 28, 2024.
As one of the largest employers in McLean County, IL you are capable of doing better. As an institution with a growing student body and healthy year-over-year net position, you are capable of doing better. We expect better from you. We are a Union town and we support our Union faculty. Faculty deserve a respectful, safe work environment and fair pay, because we recognize that ISU faculty's working conditions are ISU students' learning conditions. The longer it takes to reach agreement on a contract, the greater the chance for disruption of the academic calendar, potentially affecting a student’s ability to graduate on time.
Trustees, tell your negotiations team to speed up negotiations and produce a complete bargaining proposal for the United Faculty of ISU. We all do better, when we all do better.
