2018 OA Troop elections request form
Before you begin, please be sure to have all required information handy when you start this survey. Troop OA Rep name and email, meeting address, date desired. Not sure who is eligible and who isn't? Look below for requirements for eligibility.
Requirements for eligibility

1. Must be a registered member of the Katahdin Area Council, Boy Scouts of America

2. Must be under 18 years of age at time of election

3. Hold at least first class rank in the Boy Scouts of America

4. The youth must have experienced 15 nights of Boy Scout camping while registered with a troop or team within the two years immediately prior to the election. The 15 nights must include one, but no more than one, long-term camp consisting of at least five consecutive nights of overnight camping, approved and under the auspices and standards of the Boy Scouts of America. Only five nights of the long-term camp may be credited toward the 15-night camping requirement. The balance of the camping (10 nights) must be overnight, weekend, or other short-term camps of, at most, three nights each; and

5. Have the endorsement of Scoutmaster BEFORE the election is held.


Election details
Every effort should be made to have 100 percent attendance of both youths and adults at this meeting. The election CANNOT be held if less than %50 of youth attend the meeting. Your chapter election team will contact you to confirm the details for the election and to answer any questions you might have. This election should be held at a regular troop meeting.

The election should take 45 minutes total. Please Be Prepared with a backup meeting plan in case issues come up. No elections will be permitted past April 15th, so plan accordingly.

After the election, ballots will be counted amongst the Lodge representatives and Scoutmaster. A form will need to be filled out by the Lodge Representatives and signed by the Scoutmaster. You may find this form here: https://goo.gl/zuGJC3

An adult nomination may be made after the election is held. Your Troop Committee may nominate 1 adult to the OA per 2 youth elected. Additionally, if you are eligible to nominate an adult, you may nominate your Scoutmaster and it will not count against your total number of potential adults.
