The Gospel, Redemption and Shame

An online conference for church leaders, pioneers and those engaged in mission to explore the issue of shame theologically and missionally. It will be both an introduction for those beginning to explore issues of shame in faith contexts, as well as an opportunity for deeper learning and sharing for those already aware of the impact of this issue.
Sessions, each followed by Q&A will include:
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻, practical and pastoral theologian and author of 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒎𝒆: 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒐𝒓𝒚, 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒚, 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑭𝒂𝒄𝒆, in conversation with 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗱 𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗡𝗮𝘀𝗵, Director of the Institute for Children, Youth and Mission and writer of 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒄𝒉: 𝑬𝒙𝒑𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑷𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆;
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗲 addressing the issue of racism and shame. Director of The Oxford Centre for Religion and Culture at Oxford University, he is the author of 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑩𝒓𝒆𝒙𝒊𝒕: 𝑨 𝑳𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒐𝒔𝒕𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒆 and editor of 𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚: 𝑨𝒏 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑱𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒂𝒍;
Talk on Sexuality and Shame by 𝗝𝗮𝘆𝗻𝗲 𝗢𝘇𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲, Member of General Synod & Government’s LGBT Advisory Panel. Her biography is entitled, 𝑱𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆: 𝑨 𝑱𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑺𝒆𝒍𝒇 𝑨𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒑𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆;
A new, original poem on shame by artist and poet 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿, regular at Greenbelt, the Edinburgh Fringe and the youngest ever Poetry World Slam Champion in 2012;
A facilitated discussion on the Bible and shame in response to a video with 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗹, tutor in Church History, Preaching and Spirituality at the Queen’s Foundation, Birmingham drawing on material from her new book 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒃𝒊𝒅𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝑭𝒓𝒖𝒊𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑭𝒊𝒈𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒔: 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒅;
Another opportunity for a group discussion, this time on shame and mission provoked by input from 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝘇𝗲𝗻𝘀 of WEC International whose book is called 𝑳𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝒚𝒆;
In addition, a couple of short creative sessions on body prayer with 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗶 𝗗𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘆 and craft activity by 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿.
