When you award a Golden Hornet, you make a $10 donation to Spaulding Education Fund, and your Golden Hornet recipient receives a golden hornet pin, a dedication badge, and a certificate reflecting your words of gratitude.

Spaulding Education Fund is an independent, non-profit organization providing support for programs that enhance the MERSD academic curriculum. During the 2025-26 school year, we awarded more than $30,000 in grants to teachers to fund MERSD programs, including a native pollinator garden, 3D printers, and a middle school field trip to the Museum of Science. Your Golden Hornet recipient can use your donation by applying for a grant!

The last day to dedicate a Golden Hornet online is May 27. Golden Hornets will also be available before school at the Middle/High School entrance on May 20-22, at High School Awards Night on May 20, and at the Elementary Spring Concert on May 21. Golden Hornets will be delivered to recipients the week of June 1.
