2021 AAPIP Board of Directors - Call for Nominations
AAPIP is on the move.  We are the vibrant home for AAPIs and allies in philanthropy, working to bring the full power of our membership network at all leadership levels toward the arc of justice.  

AAPIP seeks philanthropic sector leaders to join our Board of Directors for 3-year renewable terms beginning July 1, 2021. We look to you – our national membership and chapter network – to help us identify exceptional candidates who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities!

A diverse, active, and engaged board is critical as AAPIP pursues its mission to expand and mobilize resources for AAPI communities to build a more just and equitable society. Interested candidates must share a commitment to AAPIP’s values and possess previous board and/or other leadership experience. Composed of volunteers from grantmaking institutions and philanthropy-serving organizations, the Board serves as the organization’s governing body, responsible for guiding its mission and vision, along with providing legal and financial oversight.AAPIP is looking for senior-level foundation staff or trustees, individual philanthropists and other philanthropy-serving professionals who can contribute to our efforts. We are specifically seeking leaders with the following expertise, knowledge and attributes:

+Senior leaders in philanthropy rooted in social justice/equity
+Leadership and influence in diverse philanthropic networks that can be leveraged to advance AAPIP’s mission and in service to racial and gender equity efforts
+Commitment to furthering AAPIP’s impact through active participation in board service
+Background or experience with AAPI-related community issues, organizations, funding programs or advocacy efforts
+Expansion of the Board’s racial, ethnic, geographic and/or gender diversity

Incoming 2021 board members will serve for a three-year term commencing on July 1, 2021, with the possibility of standing for re-election for an additional three-year term. The board meets quarterly, and all board members are also expected to participate in at least one standing or ad hoc sub-committee of the board. Board members are also expected to cover their travel expenses to attend two in-person meetings each year, including one that is scheduled as part of AAPIP’s annual National Network Convening of its membership network.

Nominations accepted until 5:00 p.m. PST on Friday, January 29, 2021. Eligible candidates must be a representative of a current AAPIP Institutional Member or an Individual Member in good standing. We encourage you to self-nominate and/or refer us to multiple meritorious candidates. Candidates will be screened and vetted by the Board for a final slate to present to the membership. AAPIP full members in good standing will vote to elect board members. For further details, please refer to the AAPIP board member position description found below.
