Ministry Exploration Application
The Ministry Exploration Internship is a program of the Michigan Annual Conference.
Its purpose is to help local churches to engage young people from their congregation in the exploration of the ministry of the elder.
Duration: 8 Weeks
15-20 Hours Weekly
$2,000 Salary
The Ministry Exploration program is designed for the discernment of call. If you are accepted into the program, you are expected to:
--Attend an orientation training with your Pastor/Mentor (Date and Location TBD)
--Serve in an 8-week internship at the local church. One of those weeks, the intern provides service in one of the following: 1. Week-long mission trip (or 2.3 shorter projects)
2. Week serving as a counselor at a UM Camp
3. Week of social justice engagement (or several shorter initiatives)
--Establish a mentoring relationship between pastor and intern
--Receive close supervision with weekly feedback
--Engage in at least one opportunity for preaching (along with guidance)
--Engage in opportunities for leadership in the church
--Engage in opportunities for pastoral care, preaching, program leadership
--Pastor and Intern shall together read and discuss "John Wesley's Message for Today (Pocket Edition)" by Lovett Weems.
--Interns will attend a closing gathering (date and time TBD)
