For those families who may not qualify, Shawnee Mission School District offers a limited number of wireless hotspot devices to students who do not have Internet access at home. This program enables students to access Internet service when it is needed to access academic resources for learning. Both the device and monthly service fees are paid for by the district. The program is intended to help Shawnee Mission School District students access online resources at home to support school-related learning activities. The borrowing limit is one device per household, but these devices can be checked out repeatedly throughout the year.
By signing this form, the parent or guardian agrees they currently have no internet access in the home and they will assume all responsibility for equipment signed out to the student. A replacement fee may be charged if the device is lost, damaged or not returned.
A device may be checked out for a semester and returned to the school prior to the school break. If a device is not actively used, the district will request it be returned and reallocated to another student in need.
