Next year I am going to change how I grade in ELA.  You will see me try some of this in the last quarter.  I will be dividing up assignments by standard, and giving separate grades to each standard.  These will be 'weighted' and add up to one grade of 100%.  In other words, instead of just seeing '85%" for an essay, you will see a grade for grammar, for organization, for specific techniques, etc.  Mathematically the end result won't change. My goal is to be able to clearly show students and parents strengths and weaknesses.  What thoughts or questions do you have about this?
