Every year, thousands of Warkaris from Dehu and Alandi go to Pandharpur for the Wari festival on the occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi.
The distance from Dehu/Alandi to Pandharpur is approximately 150 miles (approximately 250 kilometers) – this distance is covered by the Warkaris in 19 to 20 days.
This year, we will also try to cover as much distance as possible between the seasons in the same period of time (about three weeks).
Roughly speaking, walking 2, 4, 6, or 8 miles per day will cover 25, 50, 75, or 100% of the distance of the walk, respectively. A family can also cover 100% of the distance by walking together. (For example: a mother, father, and two children walking 2 miles per day will cover 100% of the distance of the walk together.)
