Hi all! My name is Maddie Grimes and I'm the teacher for these classes! I'm so excited you're here! A little bit about me: I have been dancing since I was a young child and am now am a freelance choreographer and director as well as a dance teacher! The Lord has blessed me immensely to be able to work doing the things that I love and I am so excited to open registration for my Fall Session!
This Fall, I will be offering five (!!!) different classes: three levels of tap and two Musical Theatre Dance classes! Classes will be $15 each or 2 for $25 (paid monthly) and will be held on most Fridays at the following times:
- Tap A ( ages 7- adult): 3:30-4:30pm
- Tap B (ages 7-adult): 4:30-5:30pm
- Musical Theatre Dance 1 (ages 7-11): 5:30-6:30pm
- Musical Theatre Dance 2 (ages 12 - young adult): 7pm-8pm
- Tap C (ages 12 - adult): 8pm-9pm
These classes will run September 6th - December 13th. A specific schedule will be shared with each of the class dates at a later date. Classes will be held at Sunny Hills Church of Christ: 2255 N Euclid St. Fullerton, CA 92835. More information about payment and such will be sent out closer to the beginning of the class. For parents or siblings not in the current class, there will be an area with tables where parents and kids can wait. The rest of the church is not ours to use so I ask that everyone stay in the classroom aside from using the restroom.
Make-up Policy: If you need to miss a class due to a schedule conflict, emergency, or any other reason, it is possible to take your class credit and put it toward another class that is offered! If you have a known conflict before the month begins, shoot me an email and we'll sort it all out! To credit your class to a future one, all conflicts or such will need to be communicated 24-hours in advance. If it is less than 24-hours, then the class credit will be forfeited.
Class Descriptions:
Musical Theatre Dance 1 and 2: These will be combination-based classes in which students will learn a routine from different Broadway shows and movie musicals each week! Routines will include songs from classic movie musicals such as The Lion King, La La Land, and The Greatest Showman as well as Broadway staples like Hairspray, Hamilton and Aladdin! If your child loves musical theater and dances around the house, MT 1 is a great option for them! If you are a teen or young adult and are looking to push yourself in a non-beginner environment, MT 2 is for you!
Tap A: This is a beginner class open to all ages; thus, no experience is required or expected (though you may take it if you've had prior experience!). Tap shoes are advised for this class so make sure you have some by the first class period! Linodes is a cheap brand for beginners that is sold on Amazon! If you don't have any, you're welcome to soft shoe (although, having tap shoes is preferable!). Come and learn how to tap from the very beginning!
Tap B and C: These classes are for those who 1. completed either Tap A or B and are ready to move on or 2. those who want a space to learn/practice different skills! I do not recommend taking this class if you do not have prior tap experience as Tap B is a advanced beginner class and Tap C is a strong intermediate class. Tap shoes are advised for this class so make sure you have some by the first class period! If you don't have any, you're welcome to soft shoe (although, having shoes is preferable!).
These classes are open to ANYONE, so please spread the word to your friends! I am so excited to be adding another class and cannot wait for them all to start! I hope to see you all in class soon!
