Hello friends, our Seattle press has rented out The Cleaners space for a one-day off-site small(est) press fair congruent with the AWP event across the river. Our intention is to help showcase tiny Northwest presses that do not have the resources or staffing to do three days at AWP's bookfair. We really see this as an opportunity to get your books and production out in front of a small-press loving community of Portland while the AWP is in town.
The Cleaners space is located a block from Powell's, in a great location that we believe most AWP folks will visit at some point during their stay (and we shamelessly plug our Thursday night off-site in the same location with Black Ocean, Poetry Northwest, and Chin Music Press). We do want you to consider that we hear that AWP will have their book fair open to the public on Saturday (though we do believe all spots are sold out). We have also learned our friends at Octopus Books out of Portland are doing a two-day off-site closer to the Convention Center. We cannot speak to if it is full or not. Please see this link. So with that in mind, we do ask that you just consider what is the best fit for your small press.
The Cleaners space will fit 14 8-foot tables. We are assuming as presses too small for AWP, that splitting a table will be great.
We are in discussions with the ACE Hotel to flip the space and will need about two hours to do so. So there will be an after-party in the space from 8 pm till 12:30 am. We have a few questions for you on that in the survey. We will get back to folks on that once we get some ideas and feedback.
Finally: 1/2 Table is $55. Full Table (and again, we can't think many would need this) is $110. We will ask for payment via Paypal or check in late February. That table is non-refundable... But obviously if we have a wait list, we'll work with you to get it worked out.
