SFUSD Title IX Student Advisory Group Application- Spring 2022
WHAT IS THE SAG?

The SFUSD Title IX Student Advisory Group (SAG) provides formal structure for students and SFUSD to build and  collaborative on issues related to sexual harassment and assault that are occurring among our students. Through providing important feedback to the District and helping to inform students about developments of importance to them, the SAG’s mission is to elevate SFUSD student voices in the pursuit of these prevention and response efforts.

The SAG will consist of maximum 20 SFUSD 10th-12th Grade High School Student Members. There will be no more than 2 students from each high school on the SAG.  For the Spring 2022 semester,  the appointment term will begin February 2022 and end June 2022. Some members of the Spring 2022 SAG will continue into the 2022-2023 SY.

MEETING INFORMATION

Members are expected to participate in virtual meetings hosted by SFUSD's Office of Equity once per month. There will be 4 meetings during the Spring 2022. Meetings are from 4:30-6:30 on the 4th Wednesday of every month starting in February:

March 23
April 27
May 25

PARTICIPANT EXPECTATIONS

Students are expected to attend at least 3 of the 4 Spring 2022 meetings. This Spring will lay a foundation of the requirements of Title IX and California Education Code. the SAG will immediately review District student-facing resources in an attempt to collaborate and improve on those materials prior to the 2022-2023 SY.

WHAT WILL WE ACCOMPLISH?

During the 2022-2023 SY, various policies will be reviewed and input will be made to the Federal Government regarding prospective changes to Title IX. SY 2022-2023 will have approximately 6-8 meetings.

APPLICATION INFORMATION

At the time of application, a candidate must be a current SFUSD 10th-12th grade student.  Applications are due by 11:59pm on February 25, 2022. A selection committee comprised of student leaders and SFUSD staff representatives will review all applications based on the following criteria:

Knowledge and interest in the area of Title IX and sexual harassment prevention and response.
Demonstrated interest in gender equity and LGBTQI rights.
Willingness and ability to collaborate with colleagues in SFUSD and the Office of Equity.
Understanding of the overall landscape of their school and District and ability to think broadly and represent students from all backgrounds
Availability to serve on the SAG and attend 3 of the 4 meetings as well as willingness to potentially continue into the following year (if student is an underclassman)

Successful applicants will be notified by March 11, 2022.

NOTE: All information on the application will be reviewed by a selection committee, which consists of students but also includes SFUSD employees. Please note as mandated reporters and pursuant to District policy and state law, all employees are obligated to inform the the appropriate agencies should they become aware that you or any other student has experienced sexual violence or sexual harassment.
