For each of the 4 Local Priorities listed below, please provide feedback, namely your opinion regarding its level of importance as a District priority and comments related to that priority. Please note that the “focus areas” listed below do not provide an exhaustive list of actions and services related to each local priority. Recruit and Retain the Highest Quality Teaching, Support and Administrative Staffs
Overview: Ensure that the highest quality certificated and classified staffs are recruited to LCUSD. For current staff, offer competitive salaries and benefits, professional development and support, and other incentivizing programs to ensure employee retention. Maintain staff (both current and new hires) who are fully credentialed in the appropriate areas and subject matters and holding all of the necessary authorizations.

Focus areas: Offering competitive salaries and benefits; providing professional development opportunities; incentivizing programs for employee retention; exploring staff wellness support.

Provide a high-quality instructional program to all students
Overview: Ensure that LCUSD students receive rigorous, differentiated, standards-based instruction by providing staff with ongoing professional development, necessary technology supports and tools, opportunities to collaborate with colleagues, and robust standards-aligned resources.

Focus areas: Class size reduction in grades TK-6, providing professional development for special education and ELD teachers and staff; supporting career technical education pathways; using collaboration time to improve teaching and learning; providing teacher professional development in technology via Technology Department support; expanding and implementing digital citizenship, responsibility, and literacy programs; Challenge Success SPACE framework: project/problem-based learning and authentic and alternative assessments.

Ensure students and staff have opportunities to thrive through programs designed to promote social and emotional health, wellness, and interpersonal connectedness in an environment that is safe and welcoming.
Overview: Promote students’ and staff's social and emotional health, wellness and interpersonal connectedness by ensuring our schools are safe and welcoming. Intentionally foster positive and identity-safe school environments by providing resources and programs to promote high levels of connection, engagement, and overall well-being throughout the school community. Ensure student thriving behaviors, wellness, emotional resilience, and attitudes of empathy, respect, and acceptance by examining, developing, and refining school site systems, programs, and practices with corresponding implementation and action plans within a school site climate of care.

Focus areas: Continuing the Challenge Success program; reviewing student schedules; improving parent engagement through the Family Learning Series; reviewing campus safety plans in terms of communication, drills, and staff roles; unifying the social-emotional learning, providing ongoing support to the Wellness Center at LCHS; continuing the work started on district needs related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Initiate Capital Improvement Projects and Maintain Safe District-wide Facilities
Overview: Implement the LCUSD Facilities Master Plan in conjunction with Measure LCF bond revenues and other resources to guide the achievement of this goal. Gain input from site staff, students, and community in the design process to assure a facility that serves everyone.

Focus Areas: Continuing the Measure LCF bond program and facilities master plan; completing the high priority facility items identified by the Safety and Security Task Force; sustaining progress related to maintaining and cleaning campuses; continuing the routine and deferred maintenance planning to ensure sites are in clean and in good repair.
