Mental Health Therapist application form

Our Mission

Let’s face it, the VA can leave more than a little to be desired when it comes to caring for veterans' mental health and most civilian clinicians don’t understand the unique needs and culture of the military or that of first responders.

At Symmetry of Self Counseling Center, we believe the answer lies in more clinicians who directly understand that culture working in the private sector. We believe that seasoned private practice clinicians who are either veterans themselves or married to veterans, and who have firsthand experience with military culture, can offer unmatched support, understanding, and privacy to fellow veterans and their spouses seeking mental health care. Who better to care for these men and women than those who have experienced similar challenges firsthand?

Symmetry takes a holistic approach that prioritizes both clients and clinicians, fostering an environment that supports the mind-body connection through effective methods, proven strategies, practical solutions, and meaningful benefits.

Symmetry’s core values (Creativity, Camaraderie, Compassion, and Commitment) are what we expect to serve our clients and bring to our staff.

Who We Are

At Symmetry of Self, our therapists are not just professionals — they are an integral part of a mission to create lasting change for those who have served. We expect our therapists to fully embody our core values, recognizing that each value shapes not only the care we provide, but also the environment we foster within our team.

Creativity allows us to approach each client’s journey uniquely, applying innovative techniques that resonate with their personal experience. Camaraderie fosters a supportive, team-oriented atmosphere where all of us are equally invested in each other's growth, offering strength and solidarity. Compassion drives us to truly understand and connect with those who trust us with their mental health, offering empathy and respect in every encounter. Lastly, Commitment ensures we follow through, providing consistent, high-quality care that is aligned with our mission and dedicated to long-term healing.

These principles guide us every day, in the therapy room and beyond, making Symmetry of Self a truly transformative place for clients and staff alike.
