To complement our ventures in developing an inclusive medical community, increase accessibility of resources, etc., we are supporting this through Medicine Encompassed's Mentorship Initiative - our ultimate aim of this initiative is to continue furthering students' interest for medicine with guidance!

OUR MENTEE APPLICATION IS NOW OPEN FOR THE FEBRUARY (tentative) COHORT! It is likely that we will match you with a mentor in the beginning of February (we will inform you via email).

PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION THOROUGHLY!

WHAT IS MEDICINE ENCOMPASSED:
We are a student-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization aiming to promote awareness and increase accessibility for those interested in future medical careers through various mediums. With a team of STEM-oriented individuals that are also passionate about biology, we are seeking to demonstrate the wide scope of what medicine encompasses. Recognizing the importance of expanding the medical field, our organization believes in accepting people from all backgrounds under one common interest. By bridging the gap between medicine, underrepresented minorities, and students from low-income backgrounds, our team of like-minded individuals is dedicated to creating more resources and opportunities in all medical fields.

Please comply with the following information in order to reserve a spot in our mentorship program as a mentee!
1) You must be following Medicine Encompassed on Instagram! (@medicine.encompassed)
2) OPTIONAL, BUT RECOMMENDED: By referring 2 pre-medical / medical students to become a mentor for our program, your spot in the program will be reserved, since many students apply to our initiative! The mentee application contains a question regarding the individuals that you referred; likewise, the mentor application contains a question about the mentee that referred them - please tell them to write your full name! However, this is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL.

WHO:
If you are a current high school student (grades 9-12) and you are interested in becoming a mentee for our organization, please fill out the following fields in this form to the best of your ability; your application will undergo a meticulous evaluation process to ensure that you are paired with the most appropriate mentor.

HOW:
We will be accepting and reviewing all mentee applications on a ROLLING BASIS and this initiative will operate year-round. With this said, we will inform ALL MENTEES on the FIRST of each month regarding which mentor they are matched with (will be done via email).

Because you will be communicating with your mentor privately, this position is generally flexible and can accommodate to your schedule - the Directors of Mentorship will be checking on each mentor-mentee pair periodically for supervisory purposes, though the mentor will decide the expectations between themselves and their mentee(s).

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Duration of Mentee Position: Mentees are expected to hold their position for ONE FULL YEAR. For example, if you apply in September 2020 and are informed on the first day of October 2020, you will be a mentee under your assigned mentor until the first day of October 2021.
