Right now, Seattle has a one-in-a-decade chance to create a more affordable, equitable future through the Comprehensive Plan Update. The City’s proposed
One Seattle Plan could open up Northeast Seattle neighborhoods like ours for more homes and more affordable housing options. This could improve affordability and create opportunities for new residents as Seattle continues to grow while reducing the risk of displacing low-income communities and communities of color from the city.
However, in August, District 4 Councilmember Rivera proposed two amendments that would undermine our goals of a more affordable, accessible and inclusive community by further restricting where and how more homes could be built in Ravenna and the Ravenna-Cowen Historic District.
The Seattle City Council is voting on proposed
amendments on September 17 and 18, 2025.
