Monastic life is different from daily life. To help you prepare for your visit, please familiarize yourself with the guidelines below. They are meant to help practitioners and visitors maintain a peaceful, harmonious, and safe environment conducive to spiritual practice.
1. Gender Separation

Within the temple, men's and women's living areas are kept separate. Please refrain from visiting the opposite gender's quarters or engaging in any intimate behavior.
- We kindly ask that you do not bring or use inappropriate music, images, or media.
2. Respect for Life and Vegetarianism
- CTTB advocates for refraining from all forms of killing. Please do not harm any living creatures, including insects such as spiders, ants, flies, mosquitoes, etc.
- All food provided is strictly vegetarian—free of meat, poultry, seafood, eggs, and five pungent substances (onion, garlic, leeks, chives, and shallots).
3. Things Not To Bring- Perfume or strongly scented productsAlcohol, tobacco, or illegal substances
- Any form of meat (including poultry and seafood), eggs, or five pungent substances
- Weapons, firearms, or explosives
- Firecrackers or flammable items
- Pets
4. Essential Items to Bring- Towels and toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, etc.)
- Thermos and microwave-safe containers for meals
- Alarm clock and flashlight
5. Clothing and Weather
- Please wear simple, comfortable clothing. Avoid wearing mini skirts, shorts, tight clothing, yoga pants, sleeveless tops, or flip-flops, as these are not appropriate for the temple environment.
- As temperatures can vary significantly between day and night, please bring clothing suited for changing weather conditions.
6. Accommodation
- We offer simple and functional accommodations, including bed linens, blankets, and pillows. You may bring your own sheets and sleeping bag if preferred.
- Note that dormitories are not equipped with air conditioning, heating, or internet access.
- Rooms will be shared with other visitors. Please respect your assigned room and maintain quiet after 10:30 PM.
- When departing, please clean your dormitory and public areas, leaving them in a tidy state for others.
7. Important Notes- Actively engage in Dharma sessions and minimize the use of electronic devices to focus on spiritual practice.
- Conserve water and electricity, and avoid wasting food.
- Follow recycling and waste sorting guidelines to help preserve a clean and orderly environment.
- When you leave, please check that you have gathered all your personal belongings and make sure to take them with you.
8. Payment Methods
The administration office, bookstore, and Jun-Kang Vegetarian Restaurant only accept cash or checks. As there are no ATMs on site, please ensure you have sufficient funds in cash or checks prior to your visit.
9. COVID Protocol
You are required to wear a mask in crowded indoor spaces if you have a cough, fever, or other symptoms to help prevent the spread of viruses.
