Cyber Dune Day Registration

Welcome to Cyber Dune Day, presented by the Tesla Owners Club of Michigan!

You asked for it, and here it is! In collaboration with The Cybertruck Guy (@cybrtrkguy on X), we invite you to join us for an exhilarating adventure at the world-renowned Silver Lake Sand Dunes, overlooking Lake Michigan. Discover the impressive off-road capabilities of the Cybertruck as we guide you through an unforgettable day of driving on the dunes. Connect with fellow Cybertruck enthusiasts from across the Midwest as we explore the white sand dunes together!

Event Details:

  • Date and Time: Sunday, October 6, 2024 | 11:00 AM
  • Location: Silver Lake State Park ORV Area, 8960 W. Fox Road, Mears, MI 49436
  • Event is free for Tesla Owners Club Members

Event Highlights:

  • Pre-Dune Workshop: We’ll start with a workshop covering essential topics such as tire deflation/inflation for sand and road, adjusting ride height, ORV safety, and more.
  • Dune Driving: Follow Troy Meekhof, 'The Cybertruck Guy,' as we navigate the dunes together, showcasing the Cybertruck's off-road capabilities.
  • Group Photo and Potluck Tailgate: After a loop around the park, we’ll stop on the shoreline for a group photo followed by a late lunch/early dinner, potluck style. We’ll be grilling burgers and brats! Afterward, you’re free to explore the park on your own or continue with the group.

Charging Information: The nearby charging infrastructure is severely limited. We recommend camping at Silver Lake State Park (note: no 14-50R outlets are available at campsites, only TT-30) or staying at a nearby hotel. Public Level 2 chargers are available in the nearby town of Hart, though not at the hotels. For supercharging, consider the Ludington Superchargers (31 minutes, 28 miles north) or the Muskegon Superchargers (44 minutes, 44 miles south). Please arrive at the park with as high a %SOC as possible to avoid any flatbed rescues!

Itinerary:

  • 11:00 AM: Pre-Dune Workshop
  • Equipment Prep Checklist:
    • Air down tires to 15 PSI in the staging area at the ORV Area (air compressors available at the State Park for airing back up).
    • Install the flagpole on your front bumper (see hardware requirements below).
    • Configure your Cybertruck software for optimal dune performance.
  • 12:00PM: Begin the guided adventure with your guide 'The Cybertruck Guy' - Troy Meekhof
    • Follow Troy’s Cybertruck (TARS) as we caravan through the park’s best spots.
  • 1:00PM-2:00PM? Lakeshore Potluck Pit Stop
    • Stop for a group photo and a potluck tailgate on the shoreline.
    •  The park closes at 8:00 PM.

Hardware Requirements:

  • Orange Flag and Flagpole: An orange, rectangular safety flag (minimum 5" x 10", solid material, not mesh) that is 10 feet high at standstill and 8 feet in motion. It must be securely mounted on the front-most part of the vehicle.

Recommended Options:

  • Affordable Option
  • I don’t exactly recommend this one but it works alright. It bends a lot in the wind, which may be against the ORV guidelines (it’s not enough for me to immediately replace mine though)
  • Better Options

Flag Mount for Cybertruck Front Tow Hook:

Other Notes:

  • You will need 1-2 wrenches (adjustable recommended) to properly tighten the flag mount nuts.
  • Restrictions to Enter:
    • NO ALCOHOL
    • NO GLASS: Glass pop bottles, glass Tupperware, etc., are not allowed.
    • Coolers will be searched.
    • Bring something to air down tires with (CT’s 35s are large and take time).

Required Permits: To enter the Silver Lake State Park ORV Area, each vehicle must have the following:

  1. ORV Permit: A $26.25 ORV license is required for riding on eligible county roads, frozen surfaces of public waters, state forest roads (open to ORV use), and eligible national forest roads.
  2. Trail Permit: A $10 ORV trail permit is required in addition to the ORV license when operating on state-designated ORV trails and scramble areas. Purchase permits in advance online through eLicense (stickers will be mailed within 7-10 days).
