Are you an instructor who is concerned about the impact of high textbook costs on your students? Explore possible alternatives by attending a one-hour workshop and writing a short review of an open textbook from the Open Textbook Library. Receive a $200 professional development stipend for your efforts!
Two workshops are being offered:
Friday, December 1, 2017, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., James Branch Cabell Library, Room 205
Friday, January 19, 2018, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., James Branch Cabell Library, Room 205
All VCU faculty and instructors are invited to apply to receive a professional development stipend. Stipends will be transferred to faculty departments for disbursement. This funding may be used at the discretion of the faculty awardee, but its use remains subject to all relevant university policies regarding education and general fund expenditures. Funding is limited, and all applicants will be notified if they are eligible for a stipend before attending the workshop. All faculty are invited to attend a workshop regardless of stipend eligibility.
Preference is based on availability of an open textbook from the Open Textbook Library (
open.umn.edu/opentextbooks) for the faculty member to review and a desire for wide representation of courses (discipline and level). Instructions for writing the review will be provided at the workshop.
