The West Texas Energy Summit is a teacher professional development for 7th - 12th grade STEM teachers in the Permian Basin and is being led by UT Austin's Hildebrand Dept of Petroleum and Geosystem Engineering's Outreach Team.
The West Texas Energy Summit is sponsored by the (SPE) Society of Petroleum Engineers-Permian Basin and Diamondback Energy.
Workshop Dates and Times: CPE Hours:
Wed. June 17th - 8am - 5pm Upon completion of the workshop, teachers will earn
Thurs. June 18th - 8am - 4pm 17 CPE hours. *UT Austin is an approved TEA Provider.
NOTE:
- This workshop is specifically for STEM 7th-12th teachers and priority is given to teachers in the Midland/Odessa area.
- Attire for the workshop is business casual. Due to field/work site visits - All participants are REQUIRED to wear closed-toed shoes, shirts with sleeves (short or long), and long pants (khakis or jeans). NO capri-length pants, NO athletic pants, NO athletic tights/leggings, NO yoga pants, dresses, NO tank tops, NO sandals, NO flipflops, NO other open-toed shoes.
- Participants will be visiting active work sites and must be willing to wear PPE (personal protective equipment) and adhere to safety guidelines while visiting each work site. PPE will be provided.
