Sigma Psi Zeta (ΣΨΖ) is a progressive multicultural sorority established on March 23, 1994 at the University at Albany. Since it was founded as the first Asian-interest sorority on the East Coast, Sigma Psi Zeta has continued to grow with 43 memberships nationwide. We are the Alpha Upsilon Charter, founded on March 21, 2021 with a class of 12 members. Our SYZters have worked together with the goal of empowering womxn of color and supporting our National Philanthropy of combating violence against womxn in its varied forms. We abide by our 10 Rays of SYZterhood: Scholarship, Professionalism, Culture, SYZterhood, Community, Philanthropy, Activism, Citizenship, Integrity, and Legacy. We use the term β€œSYZters” instead of β€œsisters” to be inclusive towards gender neutral members.

Recruitment is a period of time during each semester where potential new members can attend events and participate in activities to get to know our SYZters! All events are non-binding and completely free. We cannot wait to meet you!

A bid is an official invitation to take part in the intake process (the new member education process one must complete to become an official SYZter). Potential new members must attend at least 1 General Interest Meeting and 2 other recruitment events to qualify for an interview invite. Interviews will take place at the end of recruitment, after which you will be notified if you receive a bid.
